Monica McGrane is an independent, intermedia artist and activist applying their diversity of skills in art and technology. Their work explores creative, sustainable solutions to crises such as climate change and economic inequality.

After graduating with a degree in Intermedia Art from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2019, Monica has specialized in Animation, Game Development, Installation, Documentary, Illustration, Graphic Design and Videography. Their diverse body of works find commonality through Monica’s adaptive process of dialectical critique, research and analysis.

Letting theory influence practice and practice influence theory, their methods and materials have ranged from interactive projection to mylar murals to rotoscopic animation. While they focus on uplifting and complimenting others with their craft, Monica’s independent projects have investigated a range of topics including critiques of capitalism, affordable housing solutions, climate direct action, socio-economic nationalism and white supremacy.

Through their abstract, experimental process, Monica seeks to understand the connectivity of all things with the intention to demystify and engage with complex systems. More than anything, Monica hopes to help build a network of comrades with a passion for arming themselves and future generations with the resources needed to take on and heal from the economic and ecological crises that we are experiencing across the world.

Please get in touch with Monica if you’re interested in a commission or collaborative project. They are available for hire remotely or within the Portland, Oregon area, and can ship anywhere within the United States.
